Each store has 1 default currency.
All other currencies in your are divided into 2 groups:
1) Currencies that are supported in checkout
Any currency that you added inside your Shopify Payments settings.
We will NOT apply formatting / hiding decimals / rounding rules for these.
2) Currencies that are NOT supported in checkout
Any currency that you added through our currency app.
We will apply formatting / hiding decimals / rounding rules.
Here are some common cases you might encounter:
โ
A. Formatting does not apply
Formatting will not apply for currencies that are supported in checkout - meaning you will not see the 3 letter code per currency.
It will apply for all other currencies.
Technically, Shopify Currencies only return HTML without currency and we are not able to override it.
โ
B. Hiding decimals does not apply
Hiding decimals will not apply for currencies that are supported in checkout.
It will apply for all other currencies.
Technically, Shopify Currencies only return ###{{amount}} instead of ###{{amount_no_decimals}} and we are not able to override it.
C. Rounding does not apply
Our rounding does not override your Shopify Currencies rounding logic or prices.
To apply rounding - you will need to change it in your Currencies settings.
1. From your Shopify Admin, click "Settings"
2. Open "Payment providers"
3. Open Shopify Payments - click Edit
4. In the Currencies section click the currency you want to preview.
5. At any time, you can turn rounding rules on by clicking Enable or edit them.
Here's an example:
Let's look at a random store.
Default currency: USD
Supported currencies at checkout: CAD
Hiding decimals, rounding and 3 letter currency code will not show for CAD and USD.
Hiding decimals / rounding and 3 letter currency code could show for AUD or any other non checkout supported currency.
